Co-location provides the ultimate in flexibility and control, whilst often remaining the most cost-effective option for sites which have outgrown basic virtual hosting.
Co-location offers significant savings on the cost of renting a leased line connection and hosting servers in-house. In addition, a purpose built datacentre provides a more suitable environment for hosting server equipment than most company offices. Our London hosting facilities are equipped with backup generators, round the clock security and an advanced fire suppression system.
Servers are mounted in cabinets (racks) in our hosting facilities in London or at our own offices in Portsmouth. Rack space can be purchased in 1U (1.75" high) increments with special pricing for customers needing half a rack or a full rack. This space can be used to house any IT equipment you wish, which can either be shipped to us via a courier or you may arrange to visit the data centre and install it yourself.
Your equipment will be connected to either a 10Mbit or 100Mbit port (depending on your requirements) on a Cisco Catalyst switch. You will be allowed to burst up to the maximum capacity of the switch port and you can choose to be billed monthly based on the amount of data you transfer (per GigaByte) or based on the bandwidth you have used (using the 95th percentile rule).
Your servers can be added to our automatic monitoring system, which will alert you by e-mail or SMS or telephone if a server stops responding or produces unexpected responses which may indicate a problem.
The London datacentre is manned by engineers 24/7 who can perform routine or emergency maintenance on your server, if required. You may also arrange to visit the site yourself to maintain or upgrade your equipment.
